We maintain a detailed library of children's story books to develop their reading abilities. Children are encouraged to read books individually and as a team. Every week they are allowed to borrow books from the library. These books have been specially selected keeping their ages and their abilities in mind. We believe that children should have access to various writing styles and stories from all corners of the world. We welcome any suggestions from you on the choice of books.

A LITTLE READING GOES A LONG WAY
Children watch what adults do and, like the other learning processes, copy what the adults do. Reading is no different. Seeing adults reading from books, newspapers, recipes or menus will make children want to read independently. We believe that this process needs to be encouraged right from the early years. No child is too young to join the library. We want the children to browse through the books, make a selection on what fancies them and then read the stories with your help. Our aim is to introduce them to the concept and discipline of library, show the importance of reading and help them to develop their independent choice. This interest in reading will help develop child's overall personality. We need your help in developing this interest in reading and opening up the vast world of literature and knowledge for your children.
SOME SUGGESTIONS FOR YOU
Children love to listen to bed time stories. Take time off regularly to read stories, poems and rhymes.
One of the main ways in which you can help children get the habit of reading is by helping them to select books, sharing books and reading aloud to them. They will learn to talk about the words, stories, pictures and eventually recognize what they read.
Always ensure that books and stories come alive with vivid and eloquent description of the situations and characters
Be proactive and point out the names of different kind of foods, animals, buildings and vehicles as you go past them in your daily routine.
Praise your children when they work out a new word for themselves or when they go back and put right a word they got wrong the first time.
While reading, go thru the text, shapes and colors by underlining words with fingers yours first and then theirs.
Children want to listen to the same story again and again. They identify with the words and tend to correct you when you skip some parts. Encourage them so that they can build their confidence. This will reinforce their view that reading and stories are fun.
